Enhanced Task Force Green - February 2023

Support to help farmers and growers with clean-up from upper North Island flooding and storm damage.

What is Enhanced Task Force Green?  

ETFG provides funding to councils or other authorised agency to employ jobseekers to assist with clean-up activities following an adverse weather event or natural disaster.    

The council or agency ensure the workers are adequately trained and supported to complete the tasks and have the necessary tools, equipment, and clothing to do the tasks that are required.    

How does it work?  

Work and Income identifies suitable recruits as workers and supervisors for ETFG. These workers may be jobseekers, student or workers displaced from their jobs due to the event.   A rural industry partner is also on the interview panel to help select suitable candidates.  

Together with our partners will co-ordinate ETFG workers and agencies involved to provide support to farmers, growers, and other producers where their primary income is derived from land-based activities. 

Each ETFG work crew is accompanied by a supervisor.  Crews assist with clean-up activities such as fence clearance and repair as well as tree and debris removal.  

From initial expressions of interest, we will be able to ascertain the need for crews in which areas.

An RST facilitator will then get in contact with you to discuss the more specific details of work to be undertaken, including:  

• the priority  
• when it would be practical 
• the size of the crew needed
• how long the crew would be needed for 
• any equipment or safety equipment required 

What does it cost me?  

There are no costs to you for having help from a crew.    

The costs of employing the workers/supervisor are met by the Government.   The crews will also be supplied with their own boots, gloves, spades, hand tools and other light equipment.    

How do I express my interest in getting help from a clean-up crew?   

If you have been affected by the recent flooding and have clean-up work to do on your land, get in contact with your local Rural Support Trust.
