THE COURSE
During the trail, you will be surrounded by breathtaking natural beauty, including a 5-acre lake, rocky outcrops, and a restored musterers hut by the Puniu stream. Over the course of both the 6.5km and 10km walks, you will reach the property's highest point at 580m above sea level. From here, you can enjoy panoramic views of the upper Puniu catchment valley including Picquit hill farm. To the south lie the Pureora State Forest and the Rangitoto Ranges, to the west are Mount Kakepuku and Mount Pirongia, and to the north stand Mount Maungatautari and the Kaimai Ranges.
From the river to the highest point is 370m climb with a gradient no more than 35 degrees.
There are two walking distances to choose from. Please select the one which suits you most.
Both walks are well marked and tracked and would take approximately 3 to 4 hours to complete for moderately fit people.
6.5KM Walk
Makes it to the highest point on the farm with 360 degree views of the greater Waikato and from here it is a 1.2km downhill to the finish
10km Walk
Follows the same track as the 6.5 km but at the 4.2 km it carries on along the ridge then downhill and a slight up hill to the finish.
