We have six Trustees currently on our Board, an administrator and a coordinator.

We have a wide range of experience and knowledge in dealing with challenging rural situations. Our 24 facilitators are a mix of current and ex-farmers, and others connected to the farming industry. They are strategically located throughout the Waikato, Hauraki/Coromandel Region, and our Administrator knows the experience and abilities of each and will choose the facilitator best suited to assist in resolving your specific problem.

Our Trust is well-connected with rural networks, rural professionals and other agencies, so we are well-placed to get things done that you might find difficult when facing challenging situations. Many of our facilitators have attended mental wellness training.

Velvetleaf Biosecurity Alert

Wednesday, March 30, 2016

Author: SuperUser Account

Velvetleaf should be easy to spot among this season's fodder beet plantings. It usually stands well above the growing beet and looks distinctive.

However, in Southland it can be shorter and more difficult to spot amongst the crop.

If you have planted fodder beet, and in particular Kyros or Bangor varieties, check your fields.

If you find velvetleaf:

  • Take a photo of the plant or plants, if possible
  • Mark the location, so it's easy to find again
  • Do NOT remove it. This can only be done by a warranted officer
  • Contact MPI immediately on our pest and disease hotline – 0800 80 99 66.
