THE COURSE
During the trail, you will be surrounded by breathtaking natural beauty, including a 5-acre lake, rocky outcrops, and a restored musterers hut by the Puniu stream. Over the course of the 8km walk, you will reach the property's highest point at 580m above sea level. From here, you can enjoy panoramic views of the upper Puniu catchment valley including Picquit hill farm. To the south lie the Pureora State Forest and the Rangitoto Ranges, to the west are Mount Kakepuku and Mount Pirongia, and to the north stand Mount Maungatautari and the Kaimai Ranges.
There is also a 3km walk available where you can still enjoy the breathtaking farmland and lake just without the view from the highest point. From the river to the highest point is 370m climb with a gradient no more than 35 degrees.
