The Manawatu-Rangitikei Rural Family Support Trust was established to support farming families when times on the farm or within the family are tough
This can include personal mental wellbeing, family relationships, farming difficulties, employment relationships, animal welfare concerns, financial difficulties, adverse climatic events and biosecurity incursions.
The Trust is there to help farming families and their community recover from these challenges and build personal resilience.
The Trust is well connected to rural networks, rural professionals, health providers, Emergency Management (Civil Defence) and local and central Government agencies.
The Trust provides a free confidential service and works with you to achieve positive outcomes for you, your family and your farming business.

Our team
Our team is made up of professionals with a wide range of experience in primary industries as well as other sectors. They're passionate about supporting the community and helping rural people.
Jeremy joined Manawatu Rangitikei Rural Family Support Trust as Administrator in 2019 and was appointed as a trustee in 2024. Jeremy has worked in the agricultural sector for 50 years and previously held roles as a Farm Advisory Officer and and Agriculture Economics and Business Consultant. His passion is to support farmers.
Murray is the current Chairperson for Manawatu Rangitikei Rural Family Support Trust. He was a fifth-generation dairy farmer and previous Federated Farmers Provincial President.
Dame Margaret Millard is a founding trustee of the Manawatu-Rangitikei Rural Family Support Trust. She was the first woman to serve as a provincial president of Federated Farmers and was Chairperson of Rural Women New Zealand from 1999 to 2021 and she instigated the establishment of the Rural Family Support Trust.
Ellen is a trustee of the Manawatu Rangitikei Rural Family Support Trust having joined in 2019.
Bryan is a trustee of the Manawatu Rangitikei Rural Family Support Trust and Rural Bank Manager. He lives with his partner and children on a sheep and beef farm in the Rangitikei region.
Gregg is a trustee of the Manawatu Rangitikei Rural Family Support Trust joining the Trust in 2023.
